CME Training Course in Muscle and Peripheral Nerve Pathology, 22-24 March 2017

The CME Course “Muscle & Nerve Pathology” will be held at the Institute for Neuropathology, Universitätsklinikum der RWTH in Aachen, Germany from 22-24 March 2017 . The same course was held in Berlin in September 2014. The newly updated course consists of lectures with an emphasis on teaching. Practical (microscope-based) sessions are part of the course. The registration fee, including catering but excluding travel expenses, hotel costs and meals, is €850 for Euro-CNS members*, and €950 for non-members.

This three-days course and workshop will provide practising (neuro)pathologists, clinicians and researchers with up-to-date reviews of the classification and the diagnostic problems in muscle and peripheral nerve pathology. The course consists of alternate lectures and slide sessions. The course language is English.

Participants will receive a richly illustrated work manual of the histopathology of the most common muscular disorders.

  • enzyme histochemistry
  • muscular dystrophies
  • mitochondrial myopathies
  • congenital myopathies
  • inflammatory myopathies
  • toxic and metabolic neuropathies
  • demyelinating neuropathies
  • hereditary neuropathies
  • inflammatory neuropathies

The program has been granted 17 European CME credits (ECMEC) by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME).

CME accreditation granted by the UEMS-EACCME® provides a guarantee to participants from all over the world that the content of the CME provided is of a high quality, unbiased and didactic and, for European doctors, that this quality will be recognised in their home country. There is a mutual recognition agreement with the American Medical Association (AMA). Participants will receive an EACCME certificate at the end of the course.

Registration fee for Euro-CNS members*: 850 Euro
Registration fee for non-Euro-CNS members: 950 Euro

*) You are a member of Euro-CNS:
1) if you are a member of an Euro-CNS affiliated Neuropathology Society in Europe or
2) if you are an individual member of Euro-CNS. Member benefits such as reduced registration fees are valid only for members who paid their dues. Dues payment may not be more than one year behind.

The registration fee covers your participation in the program and also catering during the conference program.

Registrations will be accepted until the maximum number of participants has been reached. Upon receipt of your online registration, the Course Secretariat will contact you with a confirmation of your registration. Once your registration has been confirmed by the Course Secretariat, please transfer the applicable fee to the Euro-CNS bank account (see below). Payment must be received before 24 February 2017. The cancellation fee is 50 Euro. A replacement may be allowed. No refunds are given after 7 March 2017.

Travel grants Euro-CNS
A limited number of grants of € 550 is available for young trainees in neuropathology. The deadline for submitting your application is 8 February 2017. If you apply for a grant – please indicate this in the online registration form. There are no separate grant application forms. When you apply online, you will also need to send us (by e-mail) a statement from the director of your department, confirming your position.

Travel grants International Society of Neuropathology
If you are a trainee in neuropathology in a low-income country (and non-European/non-North American), we recommend that you apply for an ISN grant that will help with covering the cost of travel and participation. For application details and eligibility please see the ISN website. Please note that the applications for ISN grants are handled and administered by ISN and that you need to register normally for the Euro-CNS course.

Course location and accommodation
The course will take place at the Institute for Neuropathology, Universitätsklinikum der RWTH in Aachen, Germany. Registrants will receive hotel information upon registration.
